Move-Out Checklist

TENANT MOVE-OUT CHECKLIST

 

These instructions are intended to assist you with your move-out process and to prevent additional charges being deducted from your security deposit refund for failure to leave the premises in good and reasonable condition. A minimum charge of $25/hour will be charged should your unit require any cleaning after you vacate.

Please read through this checklist carefully and ensure all items are completed prior to turning over your keys.

FLOORS, WALLS, WINDOWS:

  • Sweep and mop all floors including underneath and around radiators
  • Clean walls and base moldings where dust, dirt, or stains have collected
  • Clean all doors and frames
  • Clean shelves and rods in closets
  • Clean window sills and windows
  • Clean all blinds and leave them in the raised-up position
  • Remove any nails from walls and fill holes
  • Remove any television mounts from walls and repair any damages
    • Note:  a minimum charge of $150 will be charged for damage caused by television mounts.

KITCHEN:

  • Thoroughly deep-clean stove-top and oven (if the stove-top raises, please be sure to clean underneath where particles and/or oil may have collected)
    • Note: A minimum charge of $175 will be charged for stoves requiring cleaning.
  • Clean underneath stove vent hood
  • Empty and clean refrigerator (inside and outside, including top). After cleaning your refrigerator please unplug this appliance and leave all doors open
    • Note: A minimum charge of $175 will be charged for refrigerators requiring cleaning.
  • Clean inside all cabinet doors, drawers, top and bottom shelves, and tops of cabinets
  • Clean counter-tops, sink and faucet
  • Clean all floor surfaces including around, underneath and behind stove
  • Clean walls around stove to ensure removal of any grease/food residue

BATHROOM(S):

  • Clean bathtub/shower, tiles and grout, faucets and shower head
  • Clean toilet including top, base, lid, seat and bowl and flooring around the toilet
  • Clean vanity cabinet and sink (clear and clean any drawers and cabinets and leave them open)
  • Clean any medicine cabinets and mirrors

MISCELLANEOUS:

  • Remove all of your property from the premises prior to handing over your keys.  Tenant will be charged for the removal of any debris/items left at the premises after move-out including bulk trash items.
  • Please sweep corridors/halls if any debris/dirt is left after removing your property from the premises.
  • Clear and sweep all storage areas/garages (if applicable
  • Turn-in all copies of keys to unit, home, building, mailboxes and garages
    • Note: a charge of $75 per missing key will be charged

GARBAGE:

  • Place all trash in garbage bags.
  • Do not place trash in shopping bags or put loose trash in bins.
  • No more than 10 bulk items can be placed at the curb on bulk pick-up days Remember to place trash/bulk at the curb the night prior to the next scheduled pick-up day or as required by the municipality.
  • Note: Costs for  removal of trash or bulk items left at the premises after move-out will be charged to the tenant.
